Why We Choose Enphase for Our Solar Installations

At Hunter Electrics, we believe installing a solar system isn't just about producing power—it's about installing a system that will continue to operate safely and reliably for many years to come.

When choosing the products we install, safety is always our number one priority. That's why we choose Enphase microinverter technology for many of our residential solar installations.

Safety Comes First

One of the biggest differences between Enphase and a traditional string inverter system is the voltage on your roof.

Traditional solar systems connect all of the panels together in a single string, creating high-voltage DC electricity that can exceed 600 volts while the sun is shining. Even if the mains power is switched off, those cables on the roof can still remain live.

Enphase takes a different approach.

Each solar panel has its own microinverter mounted underneath it, converting the electricity from ~40V DC to 230V AC right at the panel. This eliminates high-voltage DC cabling across your roof.

From a safety perspective, that's something we value highly.

Added Protection for Your Home

Electrical safety standards continue to evolve, and as electricians, we see this as a positive step. As Australia's energy grid changes and more homes become electrified, homeowners deserve solar systems that prioritise safety just as much as performance.

By eliminating high-voltage DC wiring, Enphase systems reduce one of the key risks associated with traditional solar installations.

While no electrical system is completely risk-free, we believe reducing potential hazards wherever possible is simply good practice.

Better Performance Over Time

Another advantage of Enphase is that every solar panel operates independently.

With a traditional string inverter, the performance of every panel can be affected if just one panel is shaded, dirty, or underperforming.

With Enphase, each panel works on its own. If one panel is shaded by a tree or chimney, the remaining panels continue producing at their maximum potential.

This often results in better energy production throughout the day, particularly on roofs with multiple orientations or partial shading.

Easier Fault Finding and Monitoring

Every Enphase system includes panel-level monitoring, allowing both the homeowner and our team to see how each individual panel is performing.

If an issue ever develops, it's much easier to identify exactly which panel or microinverter requires attention instead of troubleshooting the entire system.

That means much faster diagnosis, less downtime, and more confidence that your system is operating as it should.

Over the life time of the solar system, in the event of a fault, this could potentially save you $$$’s in fault finding labour in comparison to a string inverter system.

Built to Last

Enphase microinverters are designed to operate outdoors in Australia's harsh conditions.

Unlike a single string inverter, where one fault can stop the entire solar system from generating power, a fault in one microinverter only affects that individual panel. The rest of your system continues producing electricity.

It's another reason we strongly believe this technology offers long-term value for homeowners.

Our Philosophy

As a small, local electrical business based in Branxton NSW, we don't believe in installing the cheapest products just to win a quote.

We install systems we'd be happy to put on our own home.

For us, that means choosing products that are safe, reliable, easy to maintain, and built to deliver dependable performance for years to come.

Every home is different, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. We'll always recommend the system we believe best suits your property, your energy needs, and your budget.

And most importantly - is it actually going to pay it’s self off?

If you'd like honest advice about whether Enphase is the right choice for your home, we'd be happy to have a chat and explain the options—without the sales pressure.
